Hisaronu

Hisaronu
Situated high on the hillside half way between Fethiye and Olu Deniz, was once a tiny village, but has now become a relaxed resort with a good choice of pensions and hotels. It has numerous shops, restaurants and bars, and in the height of the season, the nightlife can be quite lively. The village of Ovacik is a short dolmus ride away. It is quieter, and offers equally stunning views of the surrounding mountain scenery.

The area is beautiful and an ideal location for walkers, especially in the spring when everywhere is fresh and green. Explore the forest paths winding down to secluded coves and bays. Being at a higher altitude the air tends to be fresher than at sea level, with a cooling breeze even in the hot summer months.

HIGHLIGHTS & SIGHTS

FETHIYE

Once known as Telmesos, Fethiye has long been one of its most important ports. Ancient Lycian tombs appear where you would least expect them, in the middle of town. The ruined castle you can see was built during the Crusades by the Knights of St. John. Behind the harbour of this market town, a maze streets is filled with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants serves everyone’s needs. At night, the strains of folk music drift along the sea front bustling in to the night life.

OLUDENIZ

Without doubt, one of the most beautiful places in Turkey. You cannot fail to be impressed by the spectacular view of the beautiful lagoon as you wind your way down the hillside towards the resort. The beach gives the impression that it has been bleached white by the sun and the cool deep blue water beckons. Trees reach down to the beach where there is a wide choice of water sports available and the sheltered lagoon provides calm, crystal clear waters on which to enjoy your chosen sport. For a really stunning view of the surrounding area try parasailing down over the resort.

Oludeniz is the ideal location for a relaxed beach holiday and the resort’s cafes, bars, restaurants and shops provide all the entertainment you need both day and night.

12 ISLANDS

Once you are in Fethiye it is a must to take some of the boat trips available, especially to the dozen islands that adorn the Gulf of Fethiye. During your trip sun bathing, swimming and even water sports are part of the enjoyment. It’s always possible that you may see dolphins, flying fish and even sea turtles.

KAYAKOY

High above Fethiye is the ghost town of Kayakoy. It can be found near Hisaronu on the way to Oludeniz and was once occupied by Greeks under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. In the down town area there is a small church which was built in 1888 however the Greek settlements date back to the 15th Century

DALYAN

Dalyan is a small town situated in the middle of the broad delta of the Dalyan River. The Lycean Rock Tombs, Ancient Caunos, thermal springs and baths, Koycegiz Lake and Iztuzu (turtle) Beach are all places to visit during your trip to Dalyan.
